Tea Party Still Life
0

You’re probably not expecting a post about partying on a blog meant to promote healthiness etc. but as it happens, partying is an aspect of life that happens to most people. and on this blog, I want to encompass every aspect of life and if possible, how a person can excel in their endeavours while still having fun! Dont get me wrong—I’m not saying excessive drinking is cool, far from it!. I’m just simply trying to give people who live this lifestyle options that they can use as well.

Why Am I Writing This Now

I dont usually go out clubbing or partying and I stay away from alcohol pretty hard! But a couple weeks ago, I decide to go up with some friends and see what the fuss was about. I’d been up before but not for a while, literally years. I was up and, it was crazy, to say the least! Most guys were up there with the idea of meeting girls (most not very well to be fair lol), but I was there with my boys and just wanted to dance like crazy LOL. Dancing is a very underated therapeutic tool.(David Guetta makes the best party anthems!!! P.S. His “Sexy Chick” track with Akon is still THE summer jam)

You Can Have The Best of Both Worlds

No matter what anyone says, life is about having a balance in everything you do, the ying/yang theory etc. The famous motto, work hard and play hard, has been and is always true. What good is being majorly successful in your endeavours if you cant enjoy and let it sink in? And, dont get me wrong, you dont need to party to have a good time, some prefer other outlets but for those that do enjoy it, partying and dancing could be the perfect other half of being a great person. Recently, I saw a quote that stood out to me, “If you’ve never been young and crazy, you can never be old and wise”, and while I dont agree with that completely, I think some craziness while you still can is relevant in this instance . The point I’m trying to make here is that, you can stay in shape and have an amazing time.

Merging both worlds, is pretty simple. But again, there has to be a clear line.I’m not advocating to drink huge amounts all the time, only on occassions that call for it. Drinking too much too often has adverse effects on your body, which in the long run can make even getting in shape a hindrance. When alcohol is in the bloodstream, yur body is focused on removing this “foreign poison” out of the body, and while its doing this, it will not focus on burning fat. Also, alot of alcohol in the body raises the hormone insulin’s levels. Insulin is a hormone that helps store the nutrients from the foods you eat.

Basically, a high level of insulin means a high level storage of fat. Obviously, this is a no-no if staying lean is a priority. Therefore, one important rule is to only drink when the occasion calls for it, and it must be a genuine occasion, not “I just wrote my first essay at Uni, I’m going to get hammered tonight!”.Also, eating less the day of the party can work in your advantage. This is so your total calories on the day will be slightly less as you havent eaten, plus it won’t take as many drinks for you to feel a buzz, so you won’t be drinking as many calories. So, you go into the club with low calories, and if you dance as well thats your cardio sorted plus you get to enjoy your drink, it’s a win-win! or a win-win-win!If you can, switch from alcoholic beverages to water 3 hours before you go to bed. This will be very valuable to you the next morning, as you will not feel groggy and drunk as heavy drinking does! Plus, for me anyway, the last 3 hours are some of the best bits of dancing in the club, so switching to water will help you sober you up as well as help sweat you out as well, so you release some water weight. So there’s a potential to burn some fat while you sober up! Another win-win!

Quick tip: It might be a good idea to mix, literally, both worlds. I’ll explain, what I mean. You could order a shot of whiskey and a glass of water with ice. Then add a few tsps of whiskey to the water from the shot glass. Keep refilling the water(dont forget to tip the bartender well). One shot glass of whiskey could last  3-4 glasses of water so you could feel like you’re having 3 drinks. It tastes good, and you get a nice buzz without the sick drunk feeling as well as keeping the calories low to whatever that one shot is.Worth a try.Pigging out afterwards is not recommended, even though it usually always happens.I dont want to be a hypocrite and say never do it, because it will at times, but when you can prevent it opt for something lighter or smaller. If its any benefit, you wont have anything to bring back up after waking up LOLTo cure the hangover, the next day, and this may be the last thing you’ll feel like doing, go for a light walk or run or cycle.

Basically, just a light cardio session for an hour will go a way in helping you regroup and you will feel much better for it afterwards.Another way to cure a hangover is to have some toast with honey. Alcohol is a diuretic i.e. it makes you pee alot, and that, along with vomiting means your body loses vital minerals and fluids. Toast with honey is the ideal cure food because it provides the body with the sodium, potassium and fructose it needs to repair the damage done and reboot your system. The sodium and potassium are essential for proper muscle function, while the fructose replenishes your glycogen supply .Also, drinking a glass of milk before hitting the booze, coats the stomach and slows down the absorption of alcohol into the system.
