Okay so summer is right around the corner and the weather has picked up a little bit and is giving us a preview of what summer is going to be like, although right now it’s been raining like crazy the past few days. Such is a typical summer’s day in England LOL But I digress. I know a lot of people are panicking right now because they are not in the shape they want to be for the summer, so I am going to outline some tips to help you get your body ready for the sun. Miami beach is one of many places on my list of places to visit. It is always sunny it seems and the view is crazy! Okay, this is going to be a short post because I know people need to know what they can do ASAP to create their beach body without unnecessary mumbo jumbo. So here goes.

Sort your nutrition out

The first order of business is to clean up your diet. You need to remove all…and I mean all…traces of junk food around you or in your house. Lets be honest, if its your vicinity you’re going to eat it. This doesn’t make you a bad person or even weak, you’re simply human. Just go through your cupboards and just remove all processed junk foods and replace them with only fruit, vegetables and nuts. This way when you head to your cupboard, your only options are healthy snacks that will help you cut the extra weight and slim down.

Motivate yourself

Your mind is the number 1 factor in helping you achieve your summer body in that it will ultimately decide how far you get. Your mind is a very powerful tool and will work towards whatever you think about the most. So it is very important that you visualize what you want to achieve constantly as your mind will be reminded all the time. Visualizing others or surrounding yourself with those who are where you want to be is very helpful. For example, a couple years back when I began a new workout routine, I would watch a Kobe Bryant video and put one of his blown up posters on my fridge and visualise him in my head working as hard as he can, pushing himself. This image in my head fuelled my motivation and it helped me push through the workouts even on days when i didn’t always feel like I wanted to.

Start training now

As the saying goes, “it’s better late than never”. At most, you have 3 moths to work your butt off to get in shape. May has only just begun and if you started training tomorrow, you could start to see changes by July. If you need to lose some extra weight, the most important thing you could do right now is use intervals. This is an absolute must if you want the best way to make sure you get the most out of your cardio workouts. The simplest way you can do this is by doing sprint intervals at a park or even on a treadmill. The rewards will be worth it, trust me. And an added benefit for the ladies, sprinting has been proven to help tone up your legs and butt when done consistently so that is another way to to reap the benefits without wasting time. An alternative to sprint intervals is body-weight intervals, which works just as well as sprint intervals. You can use body-weight intervals to tone up your body while burning fat as well using just body-weight exercises.

Here’s a good routine you can use that combines both of these approaches

I didn’t include weight training as I know not everyone may have weights or a gym available. So this is a good cheap and simple but effective way to ton up the body. Additional tips: Try to remove all extra hair that shows up on your torso. I know ladies do this anyway but it’s going to be tough for some of the guys but you could easily make your body look more toned and defined by moisturising your skin well and trimming down body hair. If you want to look extra sharp in the pictures, get a light tan before summer starts. This will make your hard work show better as your definition will stand out more and also, makes your skin look great.
