The initial stage of the Ford Smart Mobility Plan will include the introduction of 25 mobility tests in Europe, North America, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The studies address four issues of the current transportation system and personal mobility restrictions that limit mobility for individuals – i.e., an increasing middle class, rapid population growth, shifting customer expectations and preferences, as well as the quality of air and public health issues.
In this year’s Innovate Mobility Challenge Series, Ford invited innovators and developers from all over the globe to develop solutions for specific mobility issues in Portugal, North and South America, England, India, Australia, Africa, and China. Ford will help entrepreneurs develop technological solutions to problems like finding a parking space in an urban area that is crowded by using navigation and other devices to get medical treatment in remote areas and more efficient navigational tools.
The company is located in Bangalore; Ford is working on Zoomcar technology to test the concept of sharing that allows small groups or communities, like families and office workers, as well as people living in apartments, to share a car with several drivers. This will create new revenue models and customers, providing additional benefits for owners of Ford cars within India. The company plans to develop a system for scheduling car trips and managing ownership.
Ford Smart Mobility solutions backed by cutting-edge technology are innovative when you consider the everyday challenges commuters face around the globe.
