Tell me a little about yourself…

I’m a sun-loving Aussie who unexpectedly fell in love with an Englishman and so traded in beautiful beaches and sunny weather for long cold winters and many-a-pair of wooly socks.

What inspired you to start your business?

I had worked in Advertising for 7 years and fallen out of love with the industry. As the saying goes; necessity breeds invention and the impending arrival of my first baby was the catalyst for my business idea. There never seem to be enough hours in the day and we are constantly looking for ways to make our lives easier. Thus Emily Hill Lifestyle Management was conceived; a flexible service designed specifically for busy people who need to get things done but don’t have the time or perhaps inclination to do it themselves.

What challenges have you faced?

Fitting it all in! Being a mother, wife, businesswoman and good friend everyday sometimes feels impossible. Every second of my day has to be planned and organised with military precision in order to fit everything in.

What tips do you have to keep busy mums organized?

For myself and my daughter, establishing a routine early on worked really well. Knowing that I have an unbroken hour or two over lunch everyday, during which I can blitz admin, is a godsend and has helped keep me sane.

What advice do you have for new mums?

Take time out when you can. Accept help from family and friends when they offer it. Being a Mummy is exhausting and much-needed time for just yourself suddenly becomes a precious commodity.

What is your favourite west London shop?

I am a compulsive Cath Kidston shopper and haven’t been able to resist her Autumn pashminas in beautiful floral prints (I confess I have just smuggled two into the house unbeknownst to my husband).

Where do you and your family like to hang out?

We have clocked up a vast number of hours in the Diana Memorial Playground in Kensington Gardens. I feel I know every grain of sand in that playground intimately. We can be found there daily…
